Cameras and Cell Phones

Cameras and cell phones that have built-in cameras are now prohibited at Tyendinaga Public School. Unless given permission, students cannot use cameras at school. If a student brings a camera or cell phone to school, it must be sealed in a backpack and not taken out at any point of the day. Due to the privacy of others, pictures and videos cannot be taken of other students, staff members, etc., unless given permission. When taking pictures/videos during a special event where cameras are allowed, the user of the camera must be under supervision in case of inappropriate behaviour involving the camera. An example of inappropriate behaviour while using a camera is using vulgar language or actions during the making of a picture/video. If a student, staff member parent, etc. demands that their picture cannot be taken because of privacy issues, then the user of the camera must obey, or consequences will be held. Pictures/videos taken of others can offend or humiliate them, especially if the picture/video is posted publicly, or/and taken without them knowing. So think before you act, as something as little as a picture of one of your friends could lead to serious trouble and you could face serious consequences.
